Why we do it.

As Christadelphians, we believe that God’s son, Jesus Christ will soon return to the Earth to establish His kingdom where “He will wipe away every tear,” and “sorrow and pain will be no more.” (Revelation 21v4)

As we wait for that day, we acknowledge that “faith without works is dead” (James 2 v 17) and so we try to show the compassion of Christ to those around us by sharing that hope both in word and by our actions.

In our Western world, it’s hard to imagine the scale of suffering experienced by those living in countries where disease and poverty can cause so much devastation to individual families.

Jesus said, “And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.” (Mathew 10 v 42)

And so we aim, in the name of Jesus, to make Shunem a place where some of the least fortunate can experience the “love of Christ which is beyond all knowledge” (Ephesians 3 v 19)
